Cowgirl of Honor
In September 2016 the Administrators of LOCAS submitted the idea of “The Cowgirl of Honor” award to Misty Miller aka Misty Moonshine (SASS CEO), and she graciously approved our proposal. We are very excited about the “Cowgirl of Honor” (COH) award because of what it stands for! The Cowgirl of Honor (COH) award is not based on one's shooting ability nor is it a popularity contest. The Cowgirl of Honor Awards is solely based on a cowgirl's character and how she gives back to her shooting community. The award encompasses the true spirit of the Cowgirl Way. It will be given to the cowgirl that lives by example and gives back to her CAS community. Our inspiration for this award is none other than Ricochet Roy and his “Spirit of the Game Award.”
The COH award will be presented at the following SASS events: Winter Range, End of Trail, The European Championship, and the Australian Nationals. Any cowgirl that participates in these events is eligible to win this award.
Cowgirls will be considered on:
Enfolding and assisting new shooters.
Support and encourage fellow shooters and the youth of our sport.
Give back to the sport through local clubs; assisting posse; assisting hosting clubs as needed and as able.
Encourage and inspire friendly competition.
Respect our Flag and Country.
Authentic and creative costuming.
There will be a nomination box for registered shooters (Cowgirls and Cowboys) to cast their nominations.
All match competitors will be judged equally regardless of shooting class or age. If you happen to witness a cowgirl doing something extraordinary at any of these events, please drop a note in the designated nomination box.
Let’s get out to these shoots ladies, and put our best Cowgirl of Honor boots forward!
