The Doily Gang and Their Ladies Shooting Clinics.

January 31, 2017

Fantastic opportunities are coming your way throughout the year!

What are they? Well it’s the Doily Gang Ladies clinic put on by some of the best women shooters in Cowboy Action Shooting!

First of all, what is the Doily Gang? The Doily Gang is a not-for-profit group that was formed in early 2012, with the concept of cowgirls helping cowgirls supporting and encouraging lady shooters, no matter what age or skill level. The Doily Gang supports the SASS scholarship fund in various ways, one of which is through proceeds from the Ladies clinics.

How can you identify a Doily Gang member? By their badges and cloth doilies adorned on their cowgirl costumes. Badges and yarn doilies represent the Doily Gang motto, “Attitude & Heart” and allow other cowgirls to easily recognize members. When someone sees the badge or cloth doily, they know that the lady wearing them will gladly help with any questions about costumes, shooting styles, shooting tips, or anything having to do with SASS.

First Clinic Stop: Winter Range in Phoenix, AZ. This ladies only Doily Gang clinic will be held Tuesday, Feb. 21, 2017, 2 PM – 5 PM, at berms 1-4. There will be 12 Top women shooters helping out 40 students in this clinic. You have to sign up for this clinic though, as space is limited to ensure the best instruction. As of today, the clinic has 3 slots available, so sign up quickly by emailing the Doily Gang at The instructors assisting with the Winter Range clinic have earned State, Regional, Divisional, National, and/or World Championship titles! The 2017 Winter Range instructors are… Belinda Belle • Bonnie MacFarlane • Dixie Bell • Echo Meadows • Half-A-Hand-Henri • Honey B Quick • Kathouse Kelli • Sassy Dancer • Shamrock Sadie • Texas Tiger • Two Sons • Whirlwind Wendy

What is the format of the clinic? The clinic format is designed to allow for a plethora of tips so the student is bound to walk away with several new ideas for improving her game (and an agenda to remind them of what was discussed). This year’s Winter Range Doily Gang clinic, instructors will start off with a brief safety meeting, followed by a short instruction on general transition tips by a handful of instructors. Next, the students will quickly break into smaller groups (posses) based on their shooting style and firearms. At this point, there will be about a 10:4 student-instructor ratio across four common firing line berms. Here is where the students will receive more focused instruction and one-on-one critiques by the instructors. But it’s not over yet. Throughout the rest of the week (and of course after Winter Range), if students want tips on how to shoot certain stages or have further CAS questions, all they need to do is find one of the Doily Gang instructors, or look for cowgirls wearing a Doily Gang badge or cloth doily, then ask away…they will be glad to help! After all, it’s all about “Attitude and Heart” and cowgirls helping cowgirls.
